Multi-Stakeholder Workshop Held as Part of the Akhaltsikhe General Plan

As part of the preparation of the Akhaltsikhe General Plan, a Multi-Stakeholder Workshop was held on 3 April 2026, bringing together representatives of central and local government, sectoral agencies, the private sector, the tourism industry, and the consulting team. The workshop aimed to review the city’s development vision and alternative development scenarios, gather institutional perspectives, and further refine the strategic directions for the General Plan.

During the workshop, participants discussed the key issues shaping Akhaltsikhe’s future development. Particular attention was given to improving coordination across different planning levels, modernizing infrastructure, integrating ongoing and planned projects into the General Plan, strengthening transport and logistics, unlocking the city’s economic and tourism potential, supporting agricultural development, and addressing environmental challenges.

The discussions highlighted the importance of aligning national, regional, and local planning initiatives, strengthening engineering infrastructure, coordinating existing investment projects, and making more effective use of Akhaltsikhe’s economic opportunities. Participants also emphasized the strategic role of tourism, logistics, and the agricultural sector in the city’s long-term development.

The outcomes of the workshop will inform the final assessment of development scenarios, the selection of strategic development directions, and the preparation of the Spatial Development Concept for the Akhaltsikhe General Plan.
