Preparation of the Ozurgeti General Plan Has Begun
The Kick-off Meeting for the preparation of the Ozurgeti General Plan was held on 28 November 2025, officially marking the launch of the project. The project is being implemented by the Spatial and Urban Development Agency of Georgia (SUDA) with financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The meeting brought together representatives of the Ozurgeti Municipality, the Guria State Representative’s Administration, the Spatial and Urban Development Agency of Georgia, and the consulting consortium comprising CITYFÖRSTER, BAU Design, and BCI Global. Participants were introduced to the project’s objectives, work plan, key implementation phases, and expected outcomes.
The discussion focused on Ozurgeti’s key development priorities. Particular attention was given to strengthening the city’s role as a regional centre and a gateway to the Black Sea coast, enhancing educational and research infrastructure, improving engineering infrastructure and municipal services, and unlocking the development potential of the historic Silk Factory as well as the agricultural and natural assets of Anaseuli.
Following the meeting, the consulting team visited the Anaseuli Forest Park and the Agrolaboratory, where they explored the area’s environmental, scientific, and development potential. The findings from the site visit will inform the preparation of the city’s Vision and the subsequent stages of the General Plan.
